Tradisom is a small independent label located in Vila Verde, Portugal. Music has for centuries been a medium for cultural penetration, spreading its roots, and influencing in various ways some regions. Contact with some nations has, in turn, facilitated an understanding of their traditions, providing new features for musicians.

Tradisom was set up to try to gather and then disseminate the cultural influences that portuguese have had in the world trough music. Its recordings are an attempt to reflect a two-way musical process in which the basic criterion has been to preserve unadulterated forms of expression providing detailed and cientific explanations with the releases.

Tradisom has also an important role to play in retrieving lesser known works in the fado genre. It is currently recording an extensive collection entitled "Fado Archives", in conjunction with a british recording company and at present six volumes are available. And in the year of the last World Exhibition of the century - EXPO98 took place in Lisbon from 22 od May till 30 of September, Tradisom has produced in co-production with Portugal Pavillion and National Comission for the Commemoration of Portuguese Discoveries, a collection of 12 CD's intitled "The Journey of Sounds", an important group of recordings made in Goa, Damão, Diu, Cochim and Korlai (India), Sri Lanka, Malaca, Macau, Malaca, East Timor, Mozambique, São Tomé, Cape Vert and Brasil.
