Seventy Portuguese artists made an artistic intervention on cavaquinhos the result is a book of art and an exhibition opened at the Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon on November 27, 2014 patent there until 12 January 2015. O book and exhibition are designed to give visibility to the cavaquinho, a small stringed instrument that is being studied, through cavaquinho Museum Cultural Association, founded by Júlio Pereira. Total will be exposed in the book 70 cavaquinhos that have been transformed into art objects, using various materials and techniques. Among the guest artists are Troufa Cristina, Luis Lazaro, Julius Dolbeth, Joana Astolfi, Joana Rego, Carlos Zingaro Marta Madureira Rui Lacquers, André Letria, Grace Bordallo Pinheiro, Taron James, Pedro Sousa Pereira Teresa Gil also part of the project.

Among the art objects, there are instruments that make direct reference to music, others served to screen for a painting or collage on paper; who was transformed into a music box, an intervening wall with references to austerity and the 'troika', who had lined with studs and you would add props.

The criterion was to choose, especially young Portuguese designers from across the country, to whom they were given 'freehand' to do what they wanted that little instrument, Júlio Pereira explained.

The design of the exhibition and the book, with a record of all intervened cavaquinhos, enjoys the patronage of artists Júlio Pomar, Pedro Cabrita Reis Julian Sarmento.
